Vendor Type classifies each organization you see in Diligent360. It appears on vendor profiles, Vendor Discovery filters, and vendor cards and rows.

Vendor types

• Academic/Research Institution: Universities, academic medical centers, or teaching hospitals conducting clinical research.
• CDMO: Contract Development and Manufacturing Organizations focused on drug product development and manufacturing.
• Clinical Site: A standalone facility or clinic that conducts clinical trials and enrolls patients.
• CRI: Clinical Research Institutes, typically investigator-driven research institutions with academic or institutional affiliations.
• CRO: Contract Research Organizations providing clinical trial management, monitoring, data management, biostatistics, or other outsourced research services.
• Government Agency: Federal, state, or governmental entities involved in clinical research, regulation, or funding (e.g., NIH, FDA, VA, BARDA).
• Logistics/Supply Chain: Companies whose primary business is clinical trial supply chain operations, including IMP distribution, cold chain management, depot services, comparator sourcing, or kit assembly.
• Medical Device: Companies that develop, manufacture, or distribute medical devices or diagnostic equipment.
• Non-Profit: Non-profit organizations such as patient advocacy groups, disease-specific foundations, or other non-governmental, non-academic non-profit entities involved in clinical research.
• Service/Technology Provider: Companies providing professional services (regulatory consulting, medical writing, pharmacovigilance, staffing/FSP, training, QA/auditing) or technology platforms (EDC, IRT/RTSM, CTMS, eCOA/ePRO, eISF, RBQM) that support clinical trials.
• Site Network: A commercially operated network of multiple clinical trial sites under centralized management.
• Other: Use only if the vendor does not clearly fit any of the above categories.
